Reblogged from The Nutrition Doctor is In the Kitchen:
Now, now people, I'm talking about whoopie pies, those sweet little concoctions of "is it a cake or is it a cookie but who really cares anyway." (Or the titular "pie," I suppose, but that one doesn't make sense to me at all.)
Since writing my first post about whoopie pies on Halloween, I've received emails from several friends begging for the recipe.
With winter squashes in full swing and pumpkins in particular on everyone's mind as Halloween approaches, it was time to reblog this piece. I had fewer readers last year at this time, you see, and I want you all to experience the sheer joy I did in making and eating these pumpkin whoopie pies with maple buttercream. For the recipe and a few fun whoopie pie facts, check out the original post. I hope it will make you smile, and it just may become your favorite fall dessert.

How apropos! I have a roasted sugar pumpkin in my fridge right now awaiting its destiny – now I know exactly what to do with it! Whoopee indeed!
